Welcome to our 2nd OCD Gamechangers Ireland event!
We are so excited to not only bring you an opportunity to connect, share stories, and resources for Ireland, but we are also extending our event as a 2 day opportunity to join! Please read below for the options of attending the event:
Because space is limited at our events (50 people!), we want to offer 2 opportunities to hear lived experience speakers and share your creative journey of living with OCD through open mic either day. You will have the opportunity to attend:
1. Friday night – Speaking event, open mic & GTKY social = 50 Euros
2. Saturday day/evening – Speaking event, open mic, social after with bonus appearance with Stuart Ralph of the OCD stories! He’ll record a podcast for all of us to watch at the event! = 50 euros
3. Combination Friday/Saturday event: Access to both days 90 euros (savings of 10 euros!)
OCD Gamechangers events are a meaningful and special way to bring together the community of individuals & families living with OCD and therapists who treat OCD. Our events showcase lived experience with OCD – the raw and real depictions of what OCD is like. Attendees will walk away from our events feeling more connected with their community, feeling validated in what they experience with OCD, and supported by others who can walk alongside them that understand and just ‘get it’.
Friday, our speakers are Chrissie Hodges, Brigitta Fitzpatrick, Lucy Shiel, and DUKE AL. The lived experience speakers will begin at 5:00-7:30pm. We will host an open mic after we share our stories, and then we will have a small social to get to know attendees. This will happen from 7:30-9:00pm
Saturday, our speakers are TBD – The lived experience story sharing event will begin at 2pm and we will have an open mic from 5-6pm. Stuart Ralph of ‘The OCD Stories’ will do a special podcast recording appearance from 1-2pm! The topic will be TBD, but we will have the opportunity for you to ask him questions (off camera of course) and learn more about his podcast and what it’s been like for him to host through the years!
Our events are capped at 50 people to keep an atmosphere of confidentiality, intimacy for sharing vulnerable stories, and comfortability for people who have never met nor been to events where the topic is OCD. We understand how hard it can be to be vulnerable in our experiences with OCD. There are so many what if’s when making the decision to attend and event for awareness with a disorder we’ve spent so much time keeping hidden! We want you to know that we understand this hesitancy, and we are here for you to support you, help you feel comfortable, and in a space where you feel like you can be yourself and not be defined by what you go through. All of us were scared the first time we attended an OCD event! And many of us, even though we were hesitant, are now on the stage sharing because of the power of the shared lived experience! Not saying you ever have to share (lol!), but just want you to know you aren’t alone in the fears, and it’s worth it to take the chance and come!
The open mic is run by DUKE AL – Spoken Word Poet and founder of POET TREEHOUSE. Bring your stories, poetry, songs, spoken word, art, any creative piece you’d like to share. We will have sign up’s 1 month before the event! Prepare a 5 minute or less piece you can share with our audience. This is a powerful way you can participate but also inspire others in the future to share who may be hesitant at our event!
We will also have 2 space limited opportunities for individuals to participate in a private creative workshop with DUKE AL Saturday at 11:00-12:30pm, or a private, support group run by Chrissie Hodges & Lucy Shiel Saturday 11:00am-12:30pm. Both of these opportunities have limited space of 12 people, so get your tickets asap. These are separate from the Saturday event and to participate, it is 20 Euros. Our events are for 18 or older unless accompanied by a parent/caretaker.
